We all know the story of Rosa Parks refusing to give up her Bus seat to a white man. But did you know that a 15 year old girl did it 9 months before Rosa Parks? That girls name, is Claudette Colvin. Claudette Colvin was born on September 5, 1939, in Montgomery, Alabama. On March 2, 1955, Colvin was riding a City Bus on the way home from school when the Bus Driver told her to give up her seat to a white woman who had just boarded. Colvin said "It's my constitutional right to sit here as much that lady. I paid my paid my fare, it's my constitutional right." She was sent to Jail and charged for standing up for what she believed in. If it weren't for Claudette Colvin, we probably wouldn't have civil and equal rights. So, Thank You, Claudette Colvin. Thank You, Thank You for Everything.
